A bit of Blanche 2015-2016

Back in 2015 I started work on a Parkside Dundas / Mike Chinnery FR Blanche.

These are a couple of mockups ..

Then a bit of primer..

And then we tried some green ..

But it wasn't right, so we stripped it and re did all the archers rivets (actually bolt heads) and tried Ford Laurel Green (ack Brian Love).

We then had a 'disaster'with the chassis. I had it masked up with maskol, ready to paint the cranks, but took it to see a friend, who wanted to see it run and before I could stop him he had popped it on the track and tried it, suffice to say the gears were stripped. I was lucky enough to be able to send it to Malcolm Savage and he repaired it and it runs like a dream.

July '16 - Not a great picture, but the firebox has been painted in matt black, with the outer edge lined, free hand, in brass colour. The firebox door is painted in Revell rust, the sight glasses touched in, in brass and the regulator fabricated & fitted. The steam manifold painted and fitted along with three handles to represent the oil supply.

The tender: is painted along with a lamp bracket made from piano wire so that the magnet in the back of the lamp is attracted to it and the lamp can be moved to the front of the engine on turn-around. A 'handle' has been fabricated above the right window. The axle boxes touched in with yellow.

At this point the modelling mojo evaporated and it wasn't touched for a few years.
